WIRELESS POWER ILLUMINATES THE MOBILE WORKSPACE
Leggett & Platt Incorporated, partnering with Fulton Innovation and Energizer Holdings introduces world's first wireless charging holster to power flashlight
CARTHAGE, Mo., October 5, 2009 -The engineers at Leggett & Platt have turned a vision into reality and broken through the perceived limits of modern technology. The Fortune 500 diversified manufacturer has partnered with Fulton Innovation, the inventors of eCoupled intelligent wireless power, to transform how consumers view traditional charging of components and devices (www.LeggetteCoupled.com).
The Leggett & Platt charging holster powers the Energizer Hard Case® Professional® LED Swivel flashlight powered by eCoupledTM Technology. It is Leggett & Platt's first commercialized product using this technology.
"Our engineers first saw eCoupled technology at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2007 and we immediately began to envision how we could harness the power of this technology and apply it to products across our multiple business segments with the intent of enhancing the lives of our customers," said David Haffner, CEO for Leggett & Platt. "We continuously challenge ourselves to invest in technologies that drive product innovation and redefine the way our customers conduct business; and, I am pleased to see the results of these efforts."
Since partnering with Fulton Innovation, Leggett & Platt has committed to lead the commercialization of eCoupled technology and to be amongst the first eCoupled partner companies to offer eCoupled products for sale. That commitment has now been realized.
As the low- and medium- power supplier for the primary (or charging) side of the eCoupled connection, Leggett & Platt will provide the charging power for a wide array of eCoupled-enabled products. eCoupled technology uses inductive coupling to transfer energy from a charging surface to any eCoupled-compatible device. When the eCoupled area of a product comes into contact with an eCoupled charging zone, the technology intelligently recognizes the product, interprets its power needs and immediately begins to transfer energy.
"The launch of the Energizer flashlight and Leggett & Platt charging holster is another important step in our efforts to bring wireless power to the global marketplace," said Dave Baarman, Director of Advanced Technologies for Fulton Innovation. "This type of application clearly demonstrates the value of eCoupled technology in challenging conditions."
Charging Holster
Leggett & Platt partnered with Energizer Holdings to integrate eCoupled technology. Compatible with the Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® eCoupled Swivel Light, the Leggett & Platt charging holster and flashlight will be sold as a package by Gamber - Johnson, a Leggett & Platt company.
Designed to charge even when the vehicle's engine is off, the charging holster ensures visibility or light immediately - whenever and where ever it is required. The convenient new charger can be mounted virtually anywhere in a vehicle and eliminates the frustrating need for power cords, battery chargers, batteries or wires.
At IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police), the eCoupled Flashlight & charging holster will be unveiled and available for sale. Designed for the rugged mobile environment, the water resistant charger and light ensures convenience and reliability - when reliability cannot be compromised. It is the perfect solution for such fields as law enforcement, emergency response, security and many more.
The product will be on display at the Gamber-Johnson, IACP Expo booth #1305.
